Three kinds of house, three kinds of plan
Under the escarpment: the village weatherboards
Thirroul, Austinmer, Coledale, Bulli, Stanwell Park. Older homes, character-filled, and streets that were laid out before anybody imagined a 12-tonne truck. We match the truck to the lane rather than forcing the lane to cope, and because these suburbs sit under the wet side of the escarpment we tarp and stage so a shower never touches your mattress. Verandas, front steps and lead-light doors get wrapped like they matter, because they do.
The middle suburbs: brick, driveways, families
Figtree, Corrimal, Woonona, Balgownie, Mangerton, Unanderra, Dapto, Berkeley. The classic Illawarra family move: a driveway that fits the truck, a garage that has quietly become a second household, a school schedule the move has to fit around. The 3-mover crew is built for exactly this, and the garage is where honest hour estimates are won and lost, so we ask about it up front.
The new estates: big homes, easy access, estate rules
Horsley, Shell Cove, Flinders, Albion Park and the newer pockets around Shellharbour. Double garages and wide driveways make access easy, but new estates have their own realities: steep driveway gradients on the cut-and-fill blocks, display-home finishes that mark easily, and sometimes estate or body corporate rules about truck hours. Four-bedroom moves here often earn the 4-mover, 2-truck crew so it all goes in one run.
What every house move includes
- Beds broken down and rebuilt, fridge and washer disconnected and reconnected to existing fittings.
- Blanket-wrap on furniture as standard, shrink-wrap on fabric pieces.
- Room-labelled loading so the unload is a placement, not a puzzle.
- A straight conversation about hours before you book, with the things that stretch them named honestly: the garage, the last-minute packing, the piano nobody mentioned.
Crew honesty, in numbers: a typical 3-bed house suits 3 movers + 1 truck at $350 per hour. If your place is lightly furnished, we will say so and send the smaller crew at $250. If it is four bedrooms with a shed, the $500 crew with two trucks usually costs less in total than the small crew doing two trips. We do this arithmetic with you on the callback, out loud.
